In the Red and Brown Water
April 2022
This is a story about change (growing up, love, loss) as told through Yoruba mythology. For me, learning about a culture I did not know much about while appreciating the nostalgic yet heightened 90s culture brought into the public eye by black folks was an extremely interesting journey. This was an amazing learning experience unlike any other I've had before because it was a culture I had no experience in costuming before! I am so grateful to have been able to learn and work alongside a cast who was just as passionate about learning the intricacies behind this story as told by Tarell Alvin McCraney.

Because of this show's major theme of change, it was important to show changes in each character through their costumes. Some change more drastically than others depending on their life and circumstances. Above is Oya's transformation.
