Miss Julie: Freedom Summer

A reimagining of August Strindberg's Miss Julie, the Freedom Summer adaptation by Stephen Sachs follows the passionate one-night affair between the white daughter of a wealthy plantation owner and his black chauffeur in the height of Freedom Summer, a movement to register for racial equality by registering as many black voters in Mississippi as possible.

Designing for plantation life in the 60s was an interesting study of both period and culture. Determining each of these characters' appearances was highly led by the text and its metaphors for such a politically tense period of American history and its parallels in today's atmosphere.
